Themes & Backgrounds

Your tournament website's look is controlled from Website > Website Editor, via the Theme button in the editor toolbar — it opens the Theme & colors panel. Everything here is staged in your draft and goes live only when you press Publish, so you can experiment freely and preview before committing.

You make two choices here: a theme style — the overall look and structure of the site — and, for the Classic style, its colors. Below those you set the hero background and description.

Theme style#

The theme style sets your site's whole personality: its layout, typography, and the way scores, tables and brackets are presented. Pick one at the top of the Theme & colors panel and the entire site restyles instantly. Switching styles never touches your content — only the presentation changes — so you can preview any style and Publish only when you're happy.

Classic#

Classic is the original MyCup look and the default for every tournament. It's free on every plan, and it's the only style whose colors you can fully customize — the color palettes and custom-color controls under Colors all apply to Classic.

Broadcast, Minimal, Editorial & Heritage — Beta#

Four new premium theme styles, each a complete, hand-crafted design:

• Broadcast — a bold, score-first dark look, built for live results.
• Minimal — a clean, data-first design that ships in light and dark.
• Editorial — a refined, magazine-style layout on paper-like surfaces.
• Heritage — a classic, serif-led look with a traditional, gilded feel.

These are marked Beta in the picker while we keep polishing them. Each is a premium feature — selecting one needs a plan that includes premium themes (otherwise you'll be taken to the Plans page). Each ships with its own curated palette, so the color options below don't apply while one of these styles is active.

Colors (Classic)#

When the Classic theme style is selected, you can restyle its colors. The color picker appears in two groups; every option is free on every plan — there are no locked or "Pro" colors.

Some color names below (e.g. Editorial, Broadcast) are shared with theme-style names above. They're unrelated: here they're just color schemes for the Classic style, not the separate premium theme styles.

Standard#

Bold, energetic schemes built around the classic MyCup style:

• Default (Dark Stadium) — bold uppercase on a dark stadium surface (the classic MyCup look). This is the default.
• Light Mode — the same energy on a clean light surface.
• Blue Sports, Red Energy, Green Field, Purple Esports, Orange Fire, Gold Championship, Teal Modern, Midnight Black — the same layout in a range of ready-made color schemes.

Editorial#

A refined, magazine-grade set with softer typography:

• Editorial Night / Editorial Day — refined magazine layout with mixed-case headings, dark or light.
• Classic Championship — timeless championship styling with softer corners.
• Broadcast, Pitch, Court, Sand — calmer, premium surfaces in different color moods.

Custom colors#

Prefer your own colors? Choose Custom colors in the picker (the last tile in the Editorial group) to define your own:

• Background color — the base color of the site.
• Primary accent color — buttons, links, highlights.
• Secondary accent color — secondary highlights.

Custom colors are free on every plan.

Built-in contrast check#

As you adjust the colors, the editor runs a live readability check and warns you before an unreadable combination can go live:

• An amber hint means the contrast is low — readable, but not ideal.
• A red hint means the contrast is too low to publish. While a red issue is showing, the Apply colors button is disabled.

The check covers body text against your background and your accent against your background (so buttons and links stay visible). Adjust the background or accent until the hints clear, then click Apply colors.

Hero background#

The hero is the banner at the top of your site. You can leave it as the theme's gradient, pick a ready-made background, or upload your own.

Hero background images apply to the Classic and Broadcast theme styles. The Minimal, Editorial and Heritage styles use a solid, on-theme background by design and won't show a hero image — to feature a full poster there, use the Banners block instead.

Sample background gallery#

In the hero block settings you'll find Sample backgrounds, all free on every plan:

• A range of colorful curved-pattern and gradient looks — Crimson, Azure, Emerald, Amber, Rose, Cyan, Lilac, Lime, Slate, Coral, plus Ocean, Green pitch, Stadium night, and Charcoal.
• Richer, multi-hue options — Spectrum, Prism, Aurora, Nebula, Midnight Gold, Champagne, Royal, Violet, Indigo, Ember, Teal, and Sunset.

Click any sample to apply it to your hero. (Samples are shared assets — picking one doesn't copy a separate image into your tournament.)

Upload your own (Images feature)#

Tournaments on a plan with the Images feature can upload a custom hero image instead of using a sample. Use a wide image — 1920×600px or larger is recommended — so it stays crisp across screen sizes.

Hero description#

The hero shows your tournament name, and — when Show description is on — a short blurb beneath it. Edit that text directly in the hero block's Description field.

• Leave the field blank to fall back to your tournament's main description.
• The field starts pre-filled from your existing tournament description, so you can tweak the wording for the hero without changing anything else.
• Keep it short — a sentence or two reads best in the hero.

Turn the blurb off entirely with the Show description toggle.
