Live Scoring

Last updated: September 30, 2026

Live scoring is the screen for the side of the pitch: big buttons, one tap per goal or card, and a clock that every device shares. Open it from the Live mode icon on any match in the Matches list, from the Live mode button on a match in the Live now panel, from the Live tab at the top of the full editor, or from the Live mode link in the quick result popup.

It is available for sports with one score per side (football, futsal, handball, hockey and similar). Sports played in sets keep their set steppers in the quick result popup and on the match page.

Scoring a Match#

  1. Press Kick off when the match starts. The clock starts, and the match shows as live on the Matches page and the public website.
  2. Press Goal on the scoring team's side. Pick the scorer by shirt number or name, optionally the assist, and press Save goal. In a hurry? Save now, add scorer later records the goal and you can fill in the scorer from the timeline afterwards.
  3. Cards work the same way: Yellow, 2nd yellow and Red ask for the player. The buttons shown follow the events switched on in Tournament Settings.
  4. Between periods press End 1st half, then Start 2nd half when play resumes. In the last period the button becomes End match, which shows a short check first: every goal has a scorer, every change has synced, and (optionally) an MVP is picked.

Made a mistake? The newest thing you recorded has an Undo button for ten minutes; anything older has an edit button, where you can correct the minute or player, or delete the event. Correct score (in the timeline, or the ⋯ menu) changes the score without touching the events. Pressed End match too early? Reopen match brings it back.

On a tablet in landscape, both squads sit beside the score: tap a player, then Goal, Yellow or Red to record it in one move.

If the tournament does not record match events, the Goal buttons change the score directly and there is no timeline.

Several Devices at Once#

Any number of people can score or follow the same match. Every tap is saved on its own the moment it is made, so two people recording goals at the same time never overwrite each other. Each screen shows the other people who have the match open, and the clock is the same on every device: pause it on one and it pauses everywhere. If two people press the same clock button at once (both end the half, say), it happens once, and the second device shows that the clock was already changed.

The full editor and the quick result popup also watch for changes from other devices. If someone saved the match after you opened it, your save is stopped and you are asked to reload first, so a goal recorded at the side of the pitch is never lost to an older copy.

When the Connection Drops#

Keep scoring. The top bar shows Offline, and everything you record is kept on the device and marked On this device in the timeline. When the signal comes back it syncs on its own, in the order it happened, with the minute you recorded it at.

If someone else recorded the same goal on another device while you were offline, you are asked Was this the same goal?:

  • Same goal, keep one counts it once. If you had picked the scorer and they had not, your scorer is added to their goal.
  • Two different goals keeps both.

If the server itself does not answer (during an update, for example), your changes also stay on the device and are sent again on their own. If the server refuses them because your access changed or the season's results were locked, the scorer stops and shows how many changes are waiting, with Try again and Discard, so nothing is thrown away without you knowing. The same happens when a goal recorded offline arrives after someone else has already ended the match: it is not added to the finished result until you press Send anyway. Undo works the same way: undoing a goal that may already have reached the server removes it there too once the connection allows.

If a device still holds changes recorded more than 6 hours earlier, it asks before sending them: Send them or Discard. Unsent changes belong to the person who recorded them, so a tablet passed to another person does not send them under that person's name.

Do not clear the browser's site data or use a private window for live scoring: that is where unsynced changes wait.

Who Can Score#

Tournament Administrators and Results editors can use live scoring. See Admin Users and Roles.
