Start Next Season
Last updated: July 8, 2026
Running the same event again next season? You don't have to set it all up from scratch. Start next season creates a brand-new tournament and copies over whatever you choose from the current one.
Once your tournament is finished, you'll see a Season complete banner across the top of the dashboard — click Start next season on that banner to open this page.
What carries over#
On the form you choose what to bring across. By default everything is selected:
- Structure & rules — phases, groups, rounds and points settings.
- Divisions.
- Teams — with their players & staff.
- Venues and Referees.
- Website design & blocks — your theme, colours, hero image and layout.
Results are not copied — the new season starts fresh, ready for you to generate its matches.
The new tournament starts on the Free plan#
The new season is created on the Free plan, so you only pay again when you're ready. The Free plan carries up to a set number of teams and divisions.
If your current tournament has more teams or divisions than the Free plan allows, those toggles are locked on the form, and you'll see a note explaining why. Everything that fits is still carried over.
Have more teams/divisions than Free allows? Create the new season, upgrade it to the plan you need, then use Import from a tournament to bring the rest across. Nothing is lost — you just bring it over after upgrading.
How to do it#
- On a finished tournament, click Start next season on the Season complete banner.
- Give the new tournament a name (it pre-fills with the current name).
- Toggle what you want to carry over.
- Click Create next season.
MyCup creates the new tournament and drops you straight into it, with your selected data already in place. Generate the matches when you're ready and you're off.
